Fight over Tampa dog adoption leads to an aggravated assault investigation

A fight over an attempted dog adoption escalated to an aggravated assault investigation, according to the Tampa Police Department.

According to TPD, during an attempted dog adoption on Meadowbrook Avenue around noon on Saturday, two women got into an altercation, leading to one woman pulling a gun.

Investigators said the two women gave conflicting statements about events leading up to the incident and that the firearm on the scene was seized as evidence.

“As with all cases, the Tampa Police Department is committed to holding suspects accountable and bringing justice to victims,” the department said in a statement.

TPD said additional details will be made available pending the investigation.
