A church building in Marion County was destroyed in a fire on Monday morning.
Marion County Fire Rescue crews say at 5:49 a.m., a fire was reported at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church on Northeast 140th Street in Citra. The caller said the church was engulfed in flames.
When firefighters arrived in less than 10 minutes, about 90% of the building was on fire. It took more than an hour to bring the fire under control with help from multiple nearby fire station crews.
No injuries were reported during the incident. The State of Florida Bureau of Fire, Arson, and Explosives Investigation will investigate the cause and origin of the blaze.
Church leaders plan to hold some services at other locations due to the fire. The new locations for the celebration of Pastor Dawson’s leadership on Sunday, Aug. 3, are listed below:
- 10:00 A.M. – Faith Fellowship Baptist Church, 6900 N. U.S. Hwy 441, Ocala, FL 34482
- 3:00 P.M. – Liberty Chapel Baptist Church, 13235 NW Hwy 225, Reddick, FL 32686
