A fire erupted Wednesday morning inside an apartment building in northeast Miami-Dade.

According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials, the fire was reported just after 11:15 a.m. in the 900 block of Northeast 199th Street.

First responders said firefighters arrived at the scene and found smoke coming from the second floor of the building.

The incident was then upgraded to a second-alarm fire so additional support was called in.

Officials confirmed that one person was being assessed at the scene.

Firefighters have searched the entire second floor and have not found any other victims.
