A mobile home fire in Martin County sparked panic among neighbors on Sunday evening as concerns grew for an elderly woman possibly trapped inside, only to reveal that the structure was empty when firefighters arrived.
Martin County Fire Rescue (MCFR) said that multiple crews responded to a mobile home fire at 6:20 p.m. in the 11000 block of Southeast Federal Highway.
Witnesses reported that a vehicle parked in the driveway led them to be concerned that an elderly woman might be trapped inside the home.
Upon arrival, firefighters reported encountering light grey smoke emanating from the mobile home and immediately contacted Florida Power & Light (FPL) for assistance.
MCFR said that firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and determined that no one was home at the time of the fire.
