Firefighters encounter live wire while battling Holmes County mobile home fire

Firefighters work to extinguish an unoccupied mobile home fire Saturday night.

Bonifay Fire-Rescue said they responded to the fire located on Hoovers Mill Rd at 8:20 p.m. The mobile home was already collapsed by the time crews arrived, according to Bonifay Fire-Rescue.

Firefighters came in contact with a live power line before calling West Florida Electric to secure power.

Around 6,500 gallons of water was used to bring the fire under control. Neighbors told responders the mobile home had not been occupied since Hurricane Michael in 2018, according to Bonifay Fire-Rescue.

Esto Fire Department, Holmes County EMS, Holmes County Sheriff’s Office and West Florida Electric assisted with bringing the fire under control.
