Firefighters extinguish Ocala garage fire caused by golf cart

Marion County Fire Rescue crews successfully battled a residential structure fire on Thursday morning after a golf cart ignited inside a local garage.

MCFR received the emergency call at 11:27 a.m. regarding a home in the 7000 block of SW 106th Place in Ocala.

A neighbor reported the blaze to 911 dispatchers, noting that they did not believe anyone was currently inside the residence.

Firefighters from Liberty Station #32 were the first to arrive on the scene and observed smoke venting from the roof and an active fire within the garage.

Crews immediately deployed hose lines to combat the flames while rescue personnel entered the home to conduct a primary search.

Additional support arrived shortly after from Ray Lloyd Station #31, Marion Oaks Station #24, Friendship Station #21, and Baldwin Ranch Station #23 to assist in the operation.

The fire was declared under control by 11:47 a.m., just 20 minutes after the initial dispatch.

Investigators later determined that the fire originated from a golf cart parked inside the garage.

No injuries were reported among civilians or the firefighters at the scene.
