Firefighters rescue 1 person from fire at Spyglass Apartments in Gainesville

Firefighters put out an apartment fire in Gainesville early Friday morning.

Gainesville Fire Rescue and Alachua County Fire Rescue officials responded to structure fire at Spyglass Apartments at around 1:45 a.m.

Crews arrived at the scene and found heavy smoke coming from one of the apartment units. One person was unable to exit the apartment and climbed onto the from one of the windows.

Crews were able to safely rescue the individual from the roof. There are no injuries reported at this time, but three residents were displaced due to the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by fire officials.
