Fireworks caused a major house fire in Riverview early Thursday morning, the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue announced.
HCFR received multiple 911 calls around 12:49 a.m. regarding a house fire on Mile Marsh Drive.
Crews arrived and found the home fully engulfed in flames, with the fire threatening a neighboring house.
“Firefighters immediately deployed handlines to protect the adjacent structure while simultaneously working to control the primary fire. Aerial operations were utilized, and crews operated defensively due to the volume of fire. The blaze was brought under control in just under one hour,” The Hillsborough County Fire Rescue announced.
The family inside the home was alerted by fire alarms and was able to get out of the house safely.
No injuries were reported, and the American Red Cross has been contacted to assist the displaced family.
According to HCFR, the investigation unit determined that fireworks caused the fire.
HCFR also worked three other fires overnight, with two in Riverview, one in Valrico, and one in Carrollwood.
HCFR said three out of the four fires were caused by fireworks.
