First Coast High School junior hit by car while walking to school

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that two crashes have been reported Thursday morning on Duval Station Road near First Coast High School.

News4JAX has learned that one of the crashes involved an 11th-grade girl who was hit by a car while walking to school.

She was taken to a hospital, but is expected to be OK.

A viewer told News4JAX that she saw the teen sitting up after the crash, which happened a little after 7 a.m.

The viewer expressed concerns over cars driving aggressively as students are crossing the road using the flashing lights system for pedestrians.

“Every day when I pick up my niece and nephew, cars get impatient and will pull right up on the kids walking. Drives me crazy,” she told News4JAX.
