FL Man Dies After Losing Control of Car, Crashing into Tree: Florida Highway Patrol

A Parrish man died after losing control of his car during a Monday afternoon medical episode in a Publix parking lot and crashing into a tree, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

The 65-year-old driver was heading west in the parking lot of Lakewood Ranch Plaza, 1755 Lakewood Ranch Blvd., when he lost control of his car around 1 p.m.

As he lost control, he drove over the raised concrete sidewalk toward the Wells Fargo Bank at 1815 Lakewood Ranch Blvd., and hit a tree and shrubbery, FHP said.

He was brought to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, FHP said.

The crash remains under investigation, the agency said.
