Florida man, 23, killed in tragic Christmas morning hit-and-run crash just two days after delivering heartfelt speech as best man in father’s wedding.

A 23-year-old Florida man died in a hit-and-run crash just days after he gave a heartwarming speech as best man at his father’s wedding.

Andrew Sofranko was crossing South Harbor City Boulevard when an unknown driver hit him and drove away early in the morning on December 25.

Andrew later succumbed to injuries and died at the Holmes Regional Medical Center.

The Melbourne Police Department are still investigating the cause of the accident and whether any alcohol or drugs were involved in the accident. No suspect has yet been identified.

The unfortunate victim was attending his dad, Douglas Sofranko’s wedding to stepmother Denall Sofranko in Melbourne as best man on December 23.

Andrew was seen giving a heartfelt speech at the wedding in video footage and calling Douglas his ‘hero and guide’.

‘Here’s to a marriage that not only stands the test of time but also flourishes with each passing day. Dad, you’ve been my hero and guide, and now seeing you take this step with such grace and happiness fills my heart with immense joy,’ the victim joyfully said.

The tearful father later said he was devastated and loved Andrew ‘more than anyone in the world’.

‘I was absolutely devastated. I mean, I loved him more than anyone in the world.

‘Losing a child enough is hard to comprehend, but to go from literally like the happiest times in our life to not even to two full days later, the absolute worst horrific tragedy I’ve ever experienced in my entire life and ever will,’ he shared.

The grief-stricken father also said that his son planned to join the Navy next year.

Andrew’s new stepmother and bride, Denall, said he had cried a few times while preparing his best man speech.

‘He was so worried for days leading up to it. He’s like, I’m just trying not to cry. I don’t want to cry. And he almost cried a few times. But it was a beautiful speech and something that we will cherish forever,’ she said while sobbing.

Andrew’s uncle, Ronald Kane has set up a GoFundMe to request help with the funeral expenses.

Kane wrote: ‘Drew was a very caring person who was always there for anyone who needed him. He loved his family, football, video games and his friends. He was a very intelligent young man, and he had plans of enlisting into the United States Navy in 2024 with goals to be a part of the Nuclear Field program.’
