Florida man accused of beating girl with dryer cable, forcing children to kill pet pig

A Florida man is accused of beating a girl with a wire and forcing his children to kill their teacup pig.

GB, 35, of Orange Park was arrested on Feb. 15 for the abuse that occurred in October and November of 2024, court records say.

An arrest warrant obtained by Action News Jax said Byrd hit a girl with a “detached dryer cable” after getting angry at spilled chips on the kitchen table. The victim told officials he also dumped juice on her and her siblings and used a hammer to shatter a glass table.

In B’s arrest warrant, authorities said the child’s physical injuries and testimony were sufficient enough to charge him with child abuse.

A second warrant from October 2024 said there was substantial evidence to prove B “encouraged and orchestrated” the killing of a pet pig.

Action News Jax reported that Byrd encouraged the children to “strike the family’s pet pig, with a hammer, until it stopped moving.”

After the pig died, B allegedly told his 17-year-old stepson to dump the teacup pig into the neighborhood retention pond. The teen told officials B wanted to pet dead but wanted the child to do it for him, the report said.

The affidavit showed that B was ordered not to have contact with the children or own any pets.

B was arrested on charges of child abuse without great bodily harm and aggravated animal cruelty with excessive pain or death.
