A 32-year-old Fort McCoy man died at an ATV park in Lakeland on Saturday after getting into a crash, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said.
The man was riding a 2018 Kawasaki ATV at the Rancho Bonito park at around 3 p.m. when the crash occurred.
PCSO said he was heading down a steep cut that had a 24-30 inch vertical drop, which caused his ATV to flip over, trapping him underneath.
He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and suffered a fatal head injury.
The PCSO Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the incident.
