Southbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike are back open after being shut down near Clermont Saturday afternoon following a seven-vehicle crash that injured “several,” according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash involved a Western Star tractor-trailer, a Chevrolet Suburban, a Hyundai Santa Fe, a Volkswagen Tiguan, a Honda Civic V6 a marked FHP patrol car and a Mazda CX-9.
According to the FHP, there were several transports to Orlando Health, South Lake Hospital and Orlando Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The trooper involved in the crash was not injured.
The lanes were closed at Exit 278 (N. Hancock Road), with traffic backed up to before mile marker 283, the Florida 511 website stated.
On traffic cameras, it appeared southbound vehicles were being detoured to N. Hancock Road.
Traffic was seen flowing again before 3:30 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation.
