Four people were killed in a two-vehicle crash on Monday night.
According to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue (PBCFR), firefighters were dispatched to South Military Trail south of the intersection of Champion Boulevard after they had received reports of a vehicle crash that ended with one of the cars on fire.
Crews were at the scene in less than three minutes. Upon arrival, they discovered one of the vehicles was in the bushes and that the vehicle’s engine compartment was on fire. The second vehicle had collided with a utility pole.
Two people were able to exit the burning vehicle, and both were taken to a local trauma center, with one of them meeting trauma alert criteria.
The four people were traveling in the second passenger car. PBCFR says all four in the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
PBCFR says at this time, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office has closed the southbound lanes of Military Trail between Champion Blvd and Clint Moore Road as they conduct their crash investigation. The roadway will be closed for an extended period.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the deadly crash.
