FWC: 8-year-old hospitalized after being ejected from boat that struck channel marker

A child was hospitalized following a boating accident in Miami-Dade County.

It happened Saturday in the Cutter Bank Channel, when officials said a 22-foot Angler vessel struck a channel marker.

Authorities said a father and his three sons were aboard the boat at the time of the crash. The father and an 8-year-old boy were ejected as a result of the impact, according to officials.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue rushed the boy to a nearby trauma facility, while the father and his two other sons were treated by crews for what they said were minor injuries.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating the crash.
