Gainesville Fire Rescue puts out structure fire, no injuries reported

Firefighters put out a structure fire in Gainesville Thursday night.

According to Gainesville Fire Rescue, firefighters responded to a structure fire at 1724 Southeast 2nd Avenue just after 11:30 p.m. Crews arrived and saw visible flames and heavy smoke.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire before it spread to nearby buildings. GFR officials say the building was abandoned.

There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
