Gainesville man dead after crashing into tree

Alachua County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash at Northwest 107th Terrace and Northwest 11th Avenue just after 8 a.m. Wednesday morning, after receiving reports of a crash where the driver already seemed dead.

The driver of the vehicle, a 55-year-old man from Gainesville, crashed into a tree Tuesday evening, causing his death, investigators say.

The crash occurred in a densely populated residential area off West Newberry Road.

Officials say the crash caused traffic delays for those traveling through the area and suggest taking an alternate route if possible.

Florida Highway Patrol investigated the crash.
