A 23-year-old Gainesville man died Sunday when his pickup crossed the center median on State Road 24 and hit another pickup head-on and injured the three occupants.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the Gainesville man was driving south on SR 24 (Waldo Road) south of NE 55th Terrace at 5:59 p.m. when his vehicle crossed the center median and struck a pickup heading north on SR 24.
The Gainesville man died in the collision. The second pickup was driven by a 43-year-old man with a 44-year-old female and a 3-year-old boy passenger. All three were from Cordova, Maryland and sustained minor injuries.
