Gainesville woman hit by pickup truck, killed on highway in Levy County

A 43-year-old Gainesville woman was hit by a pickup truck and killed Wednesday night Northeast of Chiefland in Levy County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the woman was on the far right of the southbound lane of US 129, just south of the County Road 320 intersection, when she was hit by a pickup truck headed south on US 129.

The woman died at the scene.

FHP said the 70-year-old woman driving the pickup truck was wearing a seat belt and was not hurt in the crash. She is from Trenton.

The report did not indicate why the Gainesville woman might have been on the road at the time.
