Two children and one adult were rescued after becoming trapped under a large tree after it fell through the roof of their home in Stuart on Thursday morning.

Martin County Fire Rescue (MCFR) said crews are still at the scene along SE Cortez Street, off SE Alhambra Street, after responding to a call for a tree on a house with entrapment just after 9:15 a.m.

Fire Rescue said three people— two children and one adult— became partially trapped when a tree fell through the roof of the home, into their bedroom. Thankfully, aMartin County deputy was close by and made it intime to help the residents crawl out of the bedroom.

Photos taken at the scene show the towering tree and the damage it left behind after crashing through the roof.

Luckily, no one was seriously injured from the incident, just shaken up.

Unfortunately, Fire Rescue reported that the house was a total loss, and in total, four residents were displaced. However, MCFR said crews are working to ensure that they have a place to stay for the night, and animal control is working with them to care for and house several of their pets.
