The westbound lanes on Boynton Beach Boulevard and Lawrence Road have reopened after a water main break caused a massive sinkhole Wednesday morning.

However, eastbound lanes will remain closed as the 45-foot long and the 10-foot-deep hole is fixed, the City of Boynton Beach said, but to expect the work to be completed on or before Sunday.

CBS12 News reported on a tractor-trailer careening into a massive hole, caused by a water main rupture, in the Boynton Beach Boulevard and Lawrence Road intersection early Wednesday morning. Video showed a small crane at the scene hovering over the truck, which was safely removed and saved from tipping into the collapsed roadway.

Video from the area showed workers inside the huge sinkhole, which was originally estimated to be 44 feet long, 30 feet wide and 10 feet deep, making repairs.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured after traveling into the affected area, officials said.
