A Tesla caught fire while on a commercial transport trailer carrying eight other vehicles in Fort Pierce on Tuesday night.
The St. Lucie County Fire District (SLCFD) stated that at around 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday they had responded to a lithium battery-powered vehicle fire near I-95 and Orange Avenue.
Officials stated that once on scene, crews worked to contain the fire stemming from the Tesla’s battery in order to protect the other vehicles on the trailer.
SLCFD noted that their crews monitored the Tesla battery’s temperature by adding water, keeping the temperature within a safe range, until a tow truck arrived.
Officials reported that the Tesla was then transported to a tow yard and monitored overnight to prevent further fires.
