A golf cart caught fire near a structure, prompting firefighters to rush to the scene at the Legends Golf and Country Club on Thursday afternoon.

According to the South Trail Fire Protection and Rescue Service District, the golf cart was fully engulfed by flames approximately 10 feet away from the structure.

Crews were able to contain the fire and extinguish it, protecting the structure.

Fire officials said the fire is not suspicious, and no one was injured; however, the flames spread to nearby bushes.

South Trail Fire advised anyone who notices smoke (off-gassing), heat, or unusual odors from battery-powered equipment to move away from the area if it’s safe to do so and call 911.
