A semi-truck fire on Interstate 75 in Marion County has caused significant traffic delays after all northbound lanes were briefly blocked on Tuesday afternoon.

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) responded to the incident at 12:15 p.m. near mile marker 343, approximately two miles north of State Road 484.

According to the official press release, a semi-truck/tractor-trailer was traveling north when it began to smoke. The driver, identified as a 33-year-old man from Antioch, Tennessee, pulled over onto the east shoulder of the emergency lane.

Shortly after pulling over, the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames. The driver was able to exit the truck safely before the fire spread and reported no injuries.

All northbound lanes were initially closed as Marion County Fire Rescue worked to extinguish the blaze.

While the left and center lanes were eventually reopened, authorities reported extreme traffic congestion in the area following the incident.

FHP urged travelers to use caution and seek alternate routes if possible.
