A Hialeah man who wasn’t even supposed to be operating a motorcycle left his injured passenger lying in the street after he slammed his sport bike into a van and went home, police said.
EAS, 23, is now facing a felony hit-and-run charge following his arrest just after 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.
According to an arrest report from the Hialeah Police Department, the crash happened at around 11:15 p.m. Sunday night in the 100 block of West 12th Street.
Police said they arrived at the scene to find S’s injured passenger lying “in the middle of the street” with a knee injury; she was later taken to Hialeah Hospital.
According to the report, “moments later,” S called 911. Police said he had gone to his efficiency in the 600 block of East 14th Place, about a mile away from the crash site, after wrecking into the white Ford van.
The report states that officers went to the home and saw the green Bashan GTT250 with blood on it and damage consistent with being in a crash.
Police also said S “had injuries on his arm and leg consistent with the impact of the crash.”
S made an alleged admission, which was redacted from the arrest report. He was taken to Hialeah Hospital for medical clearance and then arrested.
In addition to a second-degree felony charge of leaving the scene of a crash causing serious bodily injury, police cited S for riding without a motorcycle endorsement.
S was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center Tuesday with a bond listed in jail records as “to be set.”
