High-speed chase in Escambia County ends in multi-car crash, two arrests

A Sunday afternoon pursuit ended in a crash and double arrest in Escambia County, according to FHP.

Troopers say a blue Nissan ran from a traffic stop on North 12th Avenue. The car then crashed into five other vehicles and a property.

No injuries were sustained by any victims, according to FHP.

Troopers say the driver of the car, 25-year-old Antione Smith, and his passenger, 21-year-old Tariq Watson, both have minor injuries.

Smith was arrested and charged with fleeing and eluding police. He is being held in Escambia County Jail with no bond.

Both were charged for possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of marijuana.

Watson was charged with trafficking fentanyl and is being held in Escambia County Jail with a $57,500 bond.
