High-speed chase near Downtown Panama City ended in crash

A high-speed police chase through Downtown Panama City ended Tuesday morning with the suspect crashing.

The chase happened around 11:00 a.m. when a Bay County Sheriff’s deputy tried to pull over a silver Camaro. As the deputy was trying to get information, they said the driver fled the scene.

Deputies and Florida Highway Patrol state troopers joined the chase along West Highway 98.

When the suspect reached the corner of Arthur Avenue and 13th Street, he apparently hit a stop sign, shredded the driver-side tire, and damaged the side of the vehicle.

Authorities arrested him at the scene. No additional information was provided regarding the reason for the initial traffic stop.
