South Trail Fire and Rescue says an efficiency apartment has been heavily damage following a fire Thursday morning.

The fire happened at 15910 Husky Lane in Fort Myers.

Officials say two dogs were removed from the apartment.

CPR was performed but they did not survive.

The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation.
