A 73-year-old Howey-in-the-Hills woman was killed Tuesday morning in a crash with a semitrailer in Lake County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The fatal two-vehicle wreck was reported around 7 a.m. on State Road 19 at Obrien Road.
The FHP said the big rig, driven by a 43-year-old Palm Springs, Florida, man was traveling east on Obrien Road and the woman was driving a 2017 Toyota 4-Runner south on S.R. 19.
The tractor-trailer driver made a left turn onto S.R. 19, entering the direct path of the SUV, and the vehicles collided, according to an FHP crash report.
The woman was taken to a hospital and was pronounced dead, the crash report stated.
The man was not injured and remained at the scene, according to troopers.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, the FHP said.
All lanes of S.R. 19 and Obrien Road were blocked in the area, but the roadways were later reopened, the FHP said.
An investigation is ongoing.
