Husband accused of shooting wife 5 times at Southside apartment complex

A man was detained Sunday after he was accused of shooting his wife five times inside a Southside apartment complex, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JSO said the man was immediately detained by officers and the woman was left in critical but stable condition.

JSO said around 2:30 p.m., officers responded to the 7700 block of Southside Boulevard in reference to a woman being shot.

JSO said the initial investigation revealed the victim and her husband were involved in a domestic dispute. During the dispute, the suspect displayed a handgun and fired multiple shots, striking her approximately five times, JSO said.

JSO said officers quickly responded to the scene and were able to detain the suspect. Detectives also responded to the scene, canvassed the area for video surveillance, and spoke with witnesses.

JSO asks anyone with information about the incident to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500 or via email at jsocrimetips@jaxsheriff.org , or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
