An Ocklawaha man was arrested for battery after allegedly shoving his wife during an argument that started over her visit to a neighbor’s house.
A deputy responded to a domestic disturbance at 18823 SE 92nd Lane, Ocklawaha, at 10:10 p.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, he met the female victim who stated she was battered by her husband, 44-year-old D S.
She advised that she had come home from being at a neighbor’s house between 8 and 9 p.m. Once she went into the home, S got irate toward her for being at the neighbor’s house. The two began to argue, made worse by S’s anger and drinking, the report said.
S’s wife was standing in one of the bedrooms while arguing with him. While facing her, he grabbed her left wrist and shoved her onto a bed. He then walked out of the home, got into his Chevrolet Trailblazer and left before law enforcement got there, the report said.
The deputy next spoke to the couple’s juvenile daughter. She saw S shove his wife and the two arguing. She did not describe anything further, the report said.
The deputy also spoke to S over the phone. He advised that he was trying to go to Volusia County to stay the night at his friend’s house. He began talking about the incident with his wife, to which he mentioned pushing her during the argument, the report said.
The deputy was able to convince S to talk to him about what happened, and he agreed to meet with law enforcement on Southeast 127th Streed Road. Once there, he stated that during the argument, his wife stood in front of him. He shoved her onto the bed to get her out of his way and leave the residence, the report said.
S was arrested and charged with battery (domestic). He was transported to Marion County Jail to be held without bond.
