Firefighters tackled a raging truck fire on I-95 in Fort Pierce, only to be diverted moments later to assist a passenger experiencing a life-threatening seizure.

The St. Lucie County Fire District (SLCFD) said that on Wednesday at 7:45 p.m., crews responded to a truck fire on I-95 between the St. Lucie West Boulevard and Midway Road exits.

SLCFD reported that the fire ignited several small blazes in the median, prompting firefighters to respond.

According to officials, while managing the truck fire, firefighters encountered another emergency when a vehicle pulled up seeking urgent help. It was reported that a passenger inside the car was experiencing a seizure, prompting SLCFD to shift their focus to provide medical assistance.

SLCFD said that firefighters handled both the fire and the medical emergency.
