Improperly discarded fireworks caused a garage fire in Daytona Beach, according to firefighters.

Firefighters responded to the 500 block of Beach Bum Boulevard in the Margaritaville subdivision, the Daytona Beach fire department said on social media. Arriving units found smoke and fire coming from a garage, the post states.

The fire was quickly put out and had been confined to the garage, according to the post.

An investigation reportedly revealed the cause of the fire to be improper discarding of fireworks material, the fire department said, adding the family was able to stay with friends for the night while the home was ventilated.
