Instructional assistant accused of abusing child at New Port Richey school

An instructional assistant at Achieve Center in New Port Richey was arrested for assaulting an 8-year-old student, the New Port Richey Police Department said.

On Tuesday, the administration at Achieve Center called the police to investigate a child abuse complaint that happened at 6915 Madison Street in New Port Richey regarding AC, an instructional assistant.

According to police, witnesses reported that C pulled the child out from underneath a table, threw him to the ground, and pushed the child up against a wooden cabinet before taking him into another room.

The child was then seen with a bloody nose in the other room and also alleged that C choked him earlier on the bus.

C also sent a text message to a teacher asking them to falsely claim that the victim was involved in a fight with another child at the school, according to police.

C was arrested and charged with felony child abuse and tampering with a witness.
