Investigation underway after shooting in Tamarac sends woman to the hospital

Paramedics rushed a woman to the hospital after she was shot in a Tamarac neighborhood.

Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies said they responded to reports of a shooting near the 8200 block of 74th Terrace, at around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Upon arrival, deputies found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound.

Tamarac Fire Rescue personnel transported her to Broward Health North with injuries that were not life-threatening.

According to the Neighbors app, nearby residents heard deputies calling for someone to come out of a house. It’s unclear if the victim was shot inside or outside the residence.

Late Tuesday night, deputies were still in the neighborhood working to identify the shooter and determine the circumstances of the incident.

Investigators said they were looking into one of the homes, but it’s unclear if it is an occupied home.

As of Wednesday morning, deputies continue to search for the shooter and are attempting to determine why the woman was shot and whether she knew the person who pulled the trigger.

If you have any information on this shooting or the subject’s whereabouts, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
