A 20-year-old man had to be airlifted to the hospital after a Jet Ski Crash in Cocoa.
Cocoa police say the man crashed his jet ski into the seawall.
The Cocoa Police Department says it happened near the area under the Hubert Humphrey bridge, when they say the 20-year-old crashed his jet ski into the sea wall trying to pick up people who met him there.
Tuesday, underneath the bridge connecting Cocoa and Merritt Island, M D says he was passing through on his boat.
“We came under the high-rise bridge there and we noticed the ambulance and police cars over there and that sort of thing,” he said. “We saw the jet skis kind of circling in the water like when somebody is off of it.”
He said he could see what looked like someone being helped on land.
“Attending to whoever the victim was,” D said.
Cocoa police said the jet skier thought he might have broken ribs, and Cocoa Fire and Brevard County Fire Rescue suspected he might have internal injuries, and listed him as a trauma patient.
He had to be airlifted, but not from under the bridge.
“It was insane,” said VD, who works in a tattoo shop on Dixon Boulevard. She told WESH she saw a helicopter land in the parking lot Tuesday.
“There was one big fire truck; there was a smaller fire ambulance. A couple of cop cars and then we saw the purple health first helicopter coming into the actual parking lot,” She said.
She said she saw a person loaded onto the helicopter and it took off.
As of Tuesday night, police did not have an update on the man’s condition.
Police said multiple agencies were involved Tuesday. The Sheriff’s Office responded by boat to get the jet ski, and FWC responded to take over the investigation.
