JFRD: Man dead following house fire on Jacksonville’s Southside

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department tells First Coast News one person is dead following a house fire on Jacksonville’s Southside Thursday.

JFRD says it got a call about the the fire which happened in the 5900 block of Loran Drive North around 5:40 a.m., and that the person who died in it is a man; he was found in a van by firefighters, according to JFRD Captain Eric Prosswimmer.

The fire department says the cause of the fire is being investigated by the State Fire Marshal’s Office, as well as the man’s death.
