The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said it is looking for a person of interest after a man was hit by two cars in a deadly hit-and-run while riding his push scooter on Moncrief Road on Friday night.
Police said the incident happened around 8:55 p.m. A man in his 50s was riding a push scooter when another man was making a left turn into a business.
JSO said the driver didn’t see the man on the scooter and hit him. The crash threw the man into the roadway. Officials said a white SUV struck the man and fled the scene.
The scooter rider was taken to the hospital, where he died.
JSO said the first driver who struck the man will not face any charges, but they are looking for the driver of the white SUV.
On Saturday, JSO released a photo of a person of interest. He was described as a man in his 50s.
Police said to call them at 904-630-0500 if you have any information about the incident.
