An argument inside of a home on Jacksonville’s Westside early Tuesday morning led to a man being shot and killed, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
JSO Sgt. Steve Rudlaff said officers responded to a home in the 200 block of Lane Avenue South in reference to the shooting around 3 a.m. He said there were at least five people inside the home when the shooting occurred.
Rudlaff said the victim, who was about 40-45 years old, was shot in the chest and later taken to UF Health hospital where he died.
According to Rudlaff, the man got into an argument with another man who’s about 35-45 years old.
“At this time, we do not know the circumstances of the incident, or the relationship involved in the individuals,” Rudlaff said.
Rudlaff later added that there is a “known relationship” between the victim and someone who was inside the home when the shooting happened, but stated the sheriff’s office does not yet know the exact relationship. He said he believes the victim came to the house as a guest.
Rudlaff further told First Coast News that multiple people were detained following the shooting, not including the shooter, who remains on the loose.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
