A woman was hospitalized early Wednesday morning after being shot in the face at an apartment complex in Jacksonville’s Argyle Forest neighborhood during an argument with her boyfriend, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
JSO Sgt. Christopher Smith said just after midnight, officers were sent to Lindsey Terrace Apartments, located at 8500 Argyle Business Loop, in reference to the shooting.
When they arrived, Smith said officers found a woman shot in her face. The woman, who is in her mid-30s, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Based on the preliminary investigation, Smith said the woman was visiting her boyfriend, who is approximately in his 60s. During the visit, Smith said an altercation occurred, which led to shots being fired.
According to Smith, the woman was able to escape the apartment at some point and flag down a security guard to call 911.
“At this time, everybody is detained,” Smith said. “We’re still speaking with everybody, getting the full scope of what happened tonight. But at this time, this is an isolated incident with no further threat to the public.”
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
