Juvenile arrested in killing of Oakland store clerk in January.

Oakland police arrested a juvenile following the shooting death of a man in January, according to the Oakland Police Department.

Maged Alazzani died Jan. 6 after being shot on the 2900 block of Linden Street in Oakland, police stated. Officers arrived at the scene around 8:15 p.m. after receiving a call reporting that someone was shot, police said. Police found evidence of a shooting at the scene, but Alazzani had gone to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

According to CBS news, the shooting occurred in the store where 46-year-old Alazzani worked, Orlando’s Market, which his brother owned. The store had been a common target for robberies, and the shooting on Jan. 6 was part of an armed robbery, CBS reported.

The arrested juvenile was taken into custody Feb. 27 and has been charged for their alleged involvement, but the Oakland Police Department declined to answer questions on the nature of the charges.

People who knew Alazzani described him as generous and hardworking, CBS reported. Alazzai is originally from Yemen and lived in West Oakland with his wife and four children, CBS posted.

Loved ones held a funeral prayer in Islamic tradition at the Oakland Islamic Center following his death and Alazzani was buried at a Muslim cemetery in Livermore, ABC 7 Bay Area reported.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Oakland Police Department homicide at (510)238-3821.
