A Lake City couple was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Southwest Baya Drive Thursday afternoon, according to the Lake City Police Department.
The police department told First Coast News Friday morning through a news release that on Thursday at 3:16 p.m., officers were dispatched to Southwest Baya Drive near Southeast Perry Avenue in reference to the crash.
The release states the police department’s investigation into the crash revealed that the couple’s vehicle was traveling east on Southwest Baya Drive, approaching Southeast Perry Avenue, when it “apparently lost control, veered onto the sidewalk, and struck a utility pole.”
Police have identified the driver of the vehicle as 51-year-old C H F, and his wife, as 49-year-old T C F, who was a lone passenger.
“The Lake City Police Department extends its gratitude to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Florida Highway Patrol, Lake City Fire Department, and Columbia County Emergency Medical Services for their swift response and assistance during the investigation,” the release states.
