What we know:
GC, 28, was arrested by Lake County deputies after allegedly assaulting a 34-year-old man and threatening to shoot him during a domestic altercation.
The incident took place on the night of May 20 at a residence where both men were present. Deputies say the altercation escalated from a verbal argument to physical violence and ended with C allegedly pointing a handgun at the victim and threatening his life.
Authorities said they recovered a black and gold SIG Sauer P365 handgun from the home that matched the victim’s description. The weapon was not loaded. C was arrested near the scene roughly an hour later after being located by a helicopter and apprehended by a K-9 unit.
What we don’t know:
It remains unclear what the relationship is between C and the victim or whether either man lived at the residence. Officials have not disclosed any potential motive behind C’s sudden outburst or what may have led to the extreme escalation. Additionally, it is unknown if C has a prior criminal history or if substance use may have been involved.
What they’re saying:
According to the arrest report, C pointed the handgun at the victim and said, “If I had any bullets, I would kill you.”
A witness at the scene told deputies she heard both individuals arguing and later observed C lift the handgun and threaten to shoot the victim on the front porch.
What’s next:
C was taken into custody without further incident. He is charged with felony battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, battery by strangulation, and resisting an officer without violence.
