Lakeland man sets house on fire with roommates inside: PCSO

A Lakeland man was accused of setting his house on fire while his roommates were home.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said the man’s roommates were in bed when he set the home ablaze that night.

The sheriff’s office did not name the man, but said he has “an extensive criminal history” that included a 17-year prison sentence for a 1986 murder.

He was charged with five counts of attempted first-degree murder and arson.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd is expected to provide more information about the incident in a Friday morning news conference. It will be streamed live in the video player above.
