Landlord arrested after rent dispute turns violent

An 80‑year‑old Palm Beach County landlord is facing serious charges after deputies say he showed up unannounced at his tenants’ home, demanded rent while holding a gun, and then forced his way inside.

Deputies say EW went to the home on March 3, knocked on the windows, and confronted the tenants when they opened the door. The victims told investigators he was holding what appeared to be a firearm and demanding payment.

Both men said they were terrified as W pointed the weapon at them. When one of the tenants tried to call 911, W allegedly knocked the phone out of his hand with the gun. According to the affidavit, he then stepped inside the home without permission while still aiming the weapon at them.

The victims provided deputies with cellphone video that backed up their account. Based on their statements and the footage, W was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and two counts of armed burglary of an occupied dwelling.

He was taken into custody later that day.
