A landscaping trailer in Lehigh Acres was destroyed by fire Saturday afternoon, with flames spreading rapidly after a mechanical failure.
T, a neighbor who lives next door, said he saw the incident unfold on Highview Avenue and Richmond Avenue South as a landscaper was mowing a lawn and drove the mower back into the trailer.
“Next thing I know he comes running over and wanted a fire extinguisher. I didn’t have one right there so I tried to get him a bucket of water. By the time he got halfway across the street, the whole trailer was on fire and it just melted,” T said.
T said he then called 911.
Photos sent to Gulf Coast News after the flames were extinguished show the trailer reduced to an empty frame with nothing left inside.
Crews with the Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District confirmed they responded to the vehicle fire at the location and said the cause was determined to be a mechanical failure. No one was injured.
