Lauderhill police are investigating a shooting that left a young girl injured Wednesday evening.
It happened just before 8 p.m. near the area of 3551 Northwest 8th Court.
Police said they responded to the area after receiving a ShotSpotter alert. When officers arrived, they found an 8-year-old girl with a gunshot wound.
She was taken to Broward Health Medical Center in stable condition.
Detectives said the incident appears to be the result of a drive-by shooting.
The investigation is ongoing.
