Lee County deputies rescue man from burning home in North Fort Myers

A disabled and injured man was rescued after a large house fire erupted in North Fort Myers. The fire started early Sunday morning.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said field training officer Rachel Bauer-Fithian and Tyler Voege, a deputy trainee, saved the man who was trapped in a bedroom.

Bauer-Fithian attempted to crawl through the home, but the smoke was too thick.

Voege and Bauer-Fithian broke a front window to pull the man out of the home.

According to the LCSO, he was transported to a hospital to be treated for injuries he suffered in the fire.
