A Lee County deputy was arrested on Sunday after being accused of driving under the influence.
Deputies say late in the evening on Saturday, a traffic stop was conducted on Christopher Tice, an off-duty Lieutenant, at the intersection of Fowler Street and Colonial Boulevard in Fort Myers.
The sheriff’s office says they watched the truck Tice was driving swerve all over the road, and nearly missing multiple other vehicles.
After declining field sobriety tests, according to reports, Tice was arrested for driving under the influence.
LCSO says per their policy, Tice has been placed on administrative leave without pay until the criminal case is concluded through the court system.
An internal affairs investigation will be opened, according to LCSO.
Sheriff Carmine Marceno says he takes any criminal allegation seriously, especially when it involves an LCSO employee.
Lieutenant Tice was hired by LCSO in November 2006.
Tice is currently assigned to the homicide unit and the sheriff’s office says he has no prior disciplinary actions.
